I am a bibliophile, and books are literally my best friend. I absolutely love it when books push me to make notes on my phone and also in the book itself as well. I recently read one such book and the takeaways from the book was so crazy for me that I felt guided to write a blog post about it. The book is “The Diary of a CEO” by Steven Bartlet. I discovered Steven through this book and better late than never! The book is so easy to read and comprehend and it is divided into 33 laws!

Let me share with you my favourite parts of the book!
1) Your skills or products are worthless if not marketed at the right place, right time. You need to put yourself out there in settings where the skill set you have to offer holds value. (Law 26)
2) How you choose to your "limited" time in life, changes everything. No time management techniques will work on you if you don't have the DISCIPLINE. Your motivation might fluctuate but how you manage to keep your discipline intact changes everything!
Discipline= The value of the goal+the reward of the pursuit - the cost of the pursuit (Law 27)
3) You cannot pour from an empty bucket! If you fill your own bucket, when you have a full bucket, you can positively bend the world in any way you desire. (Law 1)
4) You need to hold yourself accountable, always. Be answerable to yourself! You need to have your "skin in the game". You need to have "personal interest” in whatever it is that you are doing because that helps you hold yourself accountable. (Law 2)
5) Healthy conflict strengthens relationships because those involved are working against a problem. Unhealthy conflict weakens a relationship because those involved are working against each other!!! (Law 3)

6) Be ok with the fact that two seemingly conflicting ideas can be true at the same time and have a bias to keep them separate. You can choose to agree to disagree and I guess that is okay! (Law 5)
7) ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS. Sometimes instead of just talking about yourself, ask. And ask the right kind of questions! Questions, make people think. And even when it comes to yourself, when deciding what to do, ask yourself questions! (Law 6)
8) Your SELF STORY, your self-perception is just extremely important, way too important, never compromise on it! (Law 7)
9) Instead of fighting a "bad habit", create a new one! Bad habits have a tendency to serve you, make you feel rewarded, it gives you some sort of a hormonal high. So never try fighting it. Create a new, positive habit in place of the negative one, that gives you a similar kind of reward! Why not to fight it? Because what you resist, persists! (Law 8)

10) THERE IS NO GREATER FORM OF GRATITUDE THAN TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF. (law 9)
11) Do not wage a war on reality. Invest in shaping perceptions. Our truth is not what we see. OUR TRUTH IS THE STORY WE CHOOSE TO BELIEVE. (law 13)
12) THE ENDOWMENT EFFECT - the endowment effect is a cognitive bias that causes people to overvalue an item simply because they own it, regardless of its objective value. (Law 17)
13) Believe in and follow the KAIZEN PHILOSOPHY. KAIZEN means continuous improvement. It is not about making big leaps forward, but rather making small things better, in small ways, everywhere you can, on a daily basis. The kaizen philosophy is a golden rule for life as well. We must focus on continuously evolving and making small improvements in ourselves, every day. (Law 19)
14) It is ok to fail, don't dread failure. In fact, if you want to increase your success rate, you need to double your failure rate. Failure is feedback. Feedback is knowledge and Knowledge is power. (Law 20)

15) Become a plan A thinker. If you have a plan B ready with you, you would tend to very easily get distracted from your plan A. The first step before anybody else in the world believes it, is you have to believe it- there is no reason to have a plan B because it distracts you from Plan A. You can call it manifestation also. But stick to that one Plan, your Plan A. (law 22)
If you want to understand these points in depth, please read the book. Trust me, it is a lovely book!!
