HOW BELIEF SYSTEMS ARE FORMED?

We all hold beliefs. A belief is basically what our view about something is. How we view something becomes our belief about it. It is something you accept as true. The collection of our beliefs is what we understand as a belief system.

All of us have very different belief systems.

According to Vianna Stibal, the founder of ThetaHealing, "a belief is the

acceptance by the mind that something is true or real, often underpinned by an emotional or spiritual sense of certainty."

But the question here remains, how are these beliefs formed? From where do they

come? Are we born with them? Do they cultivate later in life? Are they influenced by our experiences and are they influenced by people around us?

I’m going to break it down for you!

First let me break down for you, the different kinds of beliefs, which will clear out for you how are these formed and where do they come from!

1)   Core beliefs

2)   Genetic beliefs

3)   History level beliefs

4)   Group consciousness beliefs

Let’s talk about of these in detail.

1)   Core beliefs- these beliefs are deeply ingrained in us.  These shape a person’s self-perception. More often than not, these beliefs start to develop very

early on in a person’s childhood itself. What a person thinks about himself or herself starts to shape right from their childhood. These beliefs are very strong, rigid and a bit dicey to challenge. If your core beliefs are weak or negative in any way shape or form, they start to impact your life negatively. Negative core beliefs are what we call limiting beliefs in THETAHEALING.

2)   Genetic beliefs- These are the beliefs and feelings that are genetically transferred from our ancestors and parents. It is scientifically proven that we inherit emotions and beliefs from our parents and ancestors. It can be called as ‘EMOTIONAL INHERITANCE’. Many times, it might happen that we are feeling

something, and we feel a bit weird and strange because we somewhere know that this feeling is not coming from us, it is not totally ours, but it still impacts us and our lives. Trauma and negative feelings, when unhealed, pass onto the next generations.

Well for that matter, even the good and positive feelings pass on. Trauma and

negative beliefs from ancestors and parents can transfer to 7 generations back and 7 generations forth. But through thetahealing, this can challenged, shifted and healed, one hundred percent.

3)   Group consciousness beliefs- these are those beliefs that become our beliefs because we are a part of a certain society. As a result of being a part of a certain group, these beliefs become a part of our system. We start to believe them to be true as a matter-of-fact way.\

4)    History level beliefs- As the name suggests this level contains beliefs and memories from our past lives or very deep genetic memories. We remember things from a previous lifetime or some other time and place!

So, to sum up, some beliefs are our own, some we get from our parents or

ancestors, some become a part of us because we are a part of a certain society or a group of people and some we carry from a different place and time.

All our beliefs are known to shape our reality at all given times.

As it is said in the law of attraction, you attract things of the same frequency at which you vibrate. So, everything you end up attracting in your reality is a result of the kind of belief system you have.

For example, suppose a man has a belief that “girls these days cheat on their partners” or “it’s very scary to date in our generation” or “love hurts”.

This man, because of his beliefs, will attract women who cheat, or break his heart or aren’t trustworthy at all. If he actively doesn’t change is beliefs about love and girls, his cycle will continue, and he will repeat his patterns. Now these negative beliefs that he has, could be his own beliefs (basis his own experiences) or could be something he has been seeing a lot around happening! To really start attracting better he will have to do belief work and heal these beliefs from their root cause in order to attract better!

Another example- suppose a person keeps facing losses in his business no matter how hard he works. This person tries to do all the right things, works very hard, invests a lot of his time, energy and money in his work, basically does everything he can but money just doesn’t seem to stay in his life. Let’s take a look at his beliefs, shall we? He holds beliefs like “money is the root of all evil”, “it is very difficult for money to stay”, “it is very difficult to earn money” and this list goes on really! How would he really attract wealth with these sets of beliefs? In this case, these could be his beliefs, could be genetic or could be group consciousness beliefs as well. He would have to do belief work in this area of his life to really start attracting

money!

You might have heard this saying that goes like,

“YOU ARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE YOURSELF TO BE.”

-Paulo Coelho

Another one of my favourite quotes about beliefs by the legend Oprah Winfrey,

“You become what you believe. You are where you are today in your life, based on everything you have believed.”
